$1 million colt tops Pioneerof the Nile’s day at OBS March 2-year-old sale

The second day of the March 14-15 OBS Sale of Two-Year-Olds was a huge one for Pioneerof the Nile, topped by a $1 million dollar colt by the sire of two champions from his first four crops.

Eddie Woods consigned hip No. 586 on behalf of Zayat Stables, with Robert and Lawana Low the winning bidders for the bay colt. The bay colt is a granddaughter of stakes winner Holy Bubbette, who produced multiple graded stake winner Cairo Prince and Grade 1-placed Nonna Mia.

“They’ve (the Lows) raced some big time colts, love Pioneerof the Nile like everybody, he’s got a Classic pedigree,” said Jacob West, who was bidding on behalf of the Lows. “He’s got Outwork under the second dam, out of a Forestry mare. The crosses work–he’s a lovely horse.”

Pioneerof the Nile also had a $550,000 filly early in the session when hip No. 359, consigned by Woods as well, went to L.E.B. The filly’s dam, Ayla Bella, is a stakes winning daughter of Touch Gold.
