$500,000 colt leads Keeneland day 1 for More Than Ready

More Than Ready, a leading sire both on track and in the sales ring, had another banner day during Monday’s session of the Keeneland September Yearling sale.

His two lots offered during the exclusive first day brought an average of $425,000, topped by a $500,000 purchased by Hartley/deRenzo Thoroughbreds. Consigned by Denali Stud, hip No. 166A is out of the Canadian Champion Older Mare Embur’s Song, who also set at track record in Keenland’s Doubledogdare S. (G3).  Embur’s Song is also a half-sister to the dam of three-time Grade 1 winner Exaggerator, who stood his first year at WinStar Farm in 2017.

Hip No. 19, consigned by Bedouin Bloodstock, went for $350,000 to Mike Ryan, agent. The filly’s dam, Heatherdoesntbluff, has produced Hollywood Starlet S. (G1) winner Killer Graces and multiple graded winner Chocolate Ride.

More Than Ready has a total of 53 yearlings cataloged in the sale, which runs through Sept. 23.
