$510K More Than Ready filly at Timonium

More Than Ready had the top-priced filly during day one of the Fasig-Tipton’s May 19-20 Midlantic 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale in Timonium, Md., a $510,000 purchase by Stonestreet Stables Inc. from the Stephens Thoroughbreds LLC consignment.

The filly, bred in Kentucky by Harvey A. Clarke and Brookdale, was cataloged as hip No. 187. She is out of the stakes winner Exotic Bloom and is a half-sister to Stopchargingmaria, winner of both the Demoiselle S. (G2) and Tempted S. (G3) and then most recently the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan S. May 16 at Pimlico.

“We know she’s a really nice horse. (Stopchargingmaria’s) win on Friday didn’t hurt her,” said Clarke referring to the Black-Eyed Susan. “She’s a really nice filly, and the mare was a beautiful mare.”

The filly breezed an eighth of a mile in the co-fastest time of :10 1/5 at the first under tack preview May 14.

“She looks like she has talent; she looks like she is fast,” said John Moynihan, who placed the winning bid by phone. “If she goes out and wins a stakes race for us, she’ll be a wonderful addition to our broodmare band.”

“She’s got similarities to the mare, but she is very More Than Ready–her color and her stature,” Moynihan continued. “We know the mare has the ability to get a good horse from the Black-Eyed Susan winner. It gives you a little bit of confidence that this filly could also be good.”
