$650,000 Speightstown filly among top sellers Tuesday at OBS

Speightstown’s power as one of the world’s leading sires was on full display Tuesday at the March 12-13 OBS 2-year-olds in Training Sale when his lone offering brought a top bid of $650,000.

The price represented the second-highest paid for a filly during the session, and was in the top five for all lots.

Niall Brennan Stables, agent, consigned the filly, hip No. 92, who had breezed a furlong in 10 seconds flat at the Under Tack Show.

Narvick International was the winning bidder.

Narvick International’s Emmanuel de Seroux said of the Speightstown. “[S]he’s a beautiful filly, a beautiful mover and a nice type with pedigree. She’s a real nice filly.”

The filly’s dam, the stakes-placed C J’s Leelee, is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Capo Bastone.

Speightstown, who recent cross the 100 stakes winner threshhold, already has three stakes winners and five stakes horses this year.
