Longshot front-runner Z Humor (by Distorted Humor) raced wire to wire in the $100,000 Ralph M. Hinds Handicap at Fairplex Park on Sunday, final weekend of the Los Angeles County Fair meet.

The 15-day meet ends Monday with a mandatory payout in the $1 win pick nine. The bet has not been hit all meet; the closing-day carryover is $155,381.

Mike Mitchell trains Z Humor for Zayat Stables; jockey Martin Garcia said he was under instructions to make the lead in the mile and one-eighth race. On the far turn it appeared 9-5 favorite Acclamation, the only 3-year-old in the field, had the leader measured. However, Z Humor dug in through the lane to win by one length in 1:51.43.

Acclamation finished second. Racketeer, who was blocked through the far turn, finished third. Trevor's Clever was fourth.

Z Humor was winning for the first time since a dead heat victory Dec. 7, 2007, in the Grade 3 Delta Downs Jackpot. A 4-year-old sired by Distorted Humor, Z Humor has won three of 20.
