Bellamy Road’s leading earner of 2012, Grade 3 winner All Squared Away, proved best in a thrilling stretch duel Jan. 6 at Santa Anita to kick off 2013 in style. All Squared Away was one of seven stakes horses last year by Bellamy Road, who finished 2012 in the top 20 on the third-crop sire list.
All Squared Away, who took the Lexington S. (G3) at Keeneland in a campaign that netted the dark bay 3-year-old $209,129 in earnings, faced a field of six foes in Sunday’s third level allowance race a 1 1/4-miles on the turf.
With a fairly brisk pace early, All Squared Away set comfortably in fifth about six lengths off the leader. Garrett Gomez took his mount off the rail after six furlongs, making steady progress towards the front around the final turn. He made up a little over two lengths in the final sixteenth of a mile to hit the wire a nose in front of pacesetter Fire With Fire in an excellent time of 1:59.47.
All Squared Away now has four wins to his credit, with $256,809 in earnings for a partnership that included Brous Stable, Wire to Wire Stable, and Wachtel Stable. He was bought by his trainer Peter Miller as a yearling at the Fasig-Tipton October sale in 2010.
