Always Dreaming strolls to comfortable Gulfstream win

Bodemeister’s rising star Always Dreaming took his second straight race Saturday at Gulfstream Park with a front-running victory in a 1 1/8-mile allowance test for 3-year-olds.

After breaking his maiden by nearly a dozen lengths on Jan. 25, Always Dreaming was made the heavy favorite for Saturday’s contest. The dark bay broke from the inside post and got away very cleanly. With none of his foes applying pressure, Always Dreaming set very tepid fractions before bounding clear at the top of the stretch, going on to win by 4 3/4-lengths.

Trainer Todd Pletcher told TVG after the race that a stakes race is in the near future for Always Dreaming after his two blowout victories. The winner is owned by a partnership led by MeB Racing Stables LLC and sold for $350,000 at the 2015 Keeneland September Yearling sale.

Always Dreaming is a 2017 Triple Crown nominee, like Bodemeister’s other top 3-year-olds O Dionysus and American Anthem. Bodemeister’s first crop of foals are 3-year-olds of 2017, a group that ranked third on the First-Crop Sire list as 2-year-olds of 2016.
