Distorted Humor filly take Group 3 Albany S. at Royal Ascot in stakes debut

Cursory Glance set the bar high in her black-type debut Friday at Royal Ascot with a scintillating two-length score in the Albany S. (G3) at Great Britain’s most prestigious race meet.

The 2-year-old daughter of Distorted Humor was away somewhat tardily in the six-furlong dash, but made up ground in quick order to establish her position in mid-pack. When the serious running started in the final furlong, Cursory Glance was moving best of all, drawing clear in the late stage to best the field of 17.

“She is a very nice filly, it is great for (owner/breeder Merry Fox Stud Ltd.). She’s one of our better ones, she’s come along so well. This is only her second start, but she behaved well here today, she’s come on a lot after her run at Kempton.”

Longer distance races could be in the future for Cursory Glance. She is the second foal out of Time Control (GB), whose full sister Time On (GB) won the Prix de Malleret (G2) at 12 furlongs and the Cheshire Oaks at 11 panels.

Distorted Humor has five winners from six 2-year-old starters this year and ranks fifth on the Juvenile Offspring Sire list.
