Bluegrass Cat colt gets stakes win in Peru

Bluegrass Indy got his first career stakes win recently in Peru, taking the 1,200 meter Clasico Junta Ejecutora at Monterrico racetrack. The 3-year-old is by WinStar stallion Bluegrass Cat, and was also bred by WinStar Farm.

Bluegrass Indy has won three of six starts for Stud Dona Licha. The chestnut Kentucky bred was sold for $80,000 at the 2010 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky yearling sale. Out of the stake-placed mare Cash No Credit, Bluegrass Indy is a half-brother to Long Branch S. (G3) winner Praying for Cash.

Bluegrass Cat is in the top 5 on the Third-Crop sire list, with 23 winners and progeny earnings of $659,341 to date this year.
