Bodemeister colt sparkles in MdSpWt debut at Laurel

O Dionysus powered through the Laurel Park stretch, rallying strongly from seventh with a quarter-mile to run to take his debut by a widening 2 3/4-lengths (VIDEO).

The bay son of Bodemeister is the third winner from his sire’s first crop, a group that includes $200, 000 Astoria S. winner Bode’s Dream. With his latest winner, Bodemeister moves into the top five on the 2016 First-Crop Sire list.

O Dionysus, owned by Marathon Farms and bred by Dark Hollow, was a $190,000 purchase out of the 2015 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Yearling Sale last October. The colt is a half-brother to three-time stakes winner Joy and comes from the same family as champion sprinter Safely Kept.
