Bodemeister colt tabbed for $750K at Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream sale

Bodemeister, a top-three First-Crop sire of 2016, had a pair of 2-year-old colts bring over $500,000 at Wednesday’s Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale.

With 2017 Triple Crown hopefuls such as American Anthem and O Dionysus on the radar, bidders were hoping to find more of that talent during the one-day racetrack auction.

Hip No. 118 had plenty of pre-sale hype following his Under Tack breeze of 10 seconds flat, which tied for the best time of the show. Donato Lanni came away as the winning bidder at $750,000 for the colt consigned by the McKathan Brothers.

The colt’s dam, Pink Diamond, is a half-sister to Grade 1-placed Rahy Dolly.

Bodemeister’s second colt in the sale was hip No. 148. Consigned by Niall Brennan Stables, the dark bay brought a final price of $525,000 from Kindred Stables. The colt’s dam Stop the Wedding is a half-sister to Saint Bernadette, dam of classic-placed Social Inclusion.

Bodemeister’s first crop of 2-year-olds in 2016 sold for an average of $151,483, second-most for any first-crop sire with at least 10 lots sold.
