Carpe Diem colt hammers for $460,000 Saturday at Keeneland

First-Crop sire Carpe Diem’s Keeneland September Yearling sale returns continued their strong returns on Saturday when hip No. 1092 brought a winning bid of $460,000.

Gainesway sales, agent, was the consignor of the chestnut colt, who went to Phoenix Thoroughbreds. The colt is out of the top-class producer Mon Venus, whose foals include Stephen Foster H. (G1) winner Pavel, multiple graded stakes winner Caracortado, and stakes winner He’ll Pay. 

Carpe Diem, whose first foals are yearlings of 2018, has had eight individuals sell for at least $250,000 at the Sept. 10-23 Keeneland sale, for an average of $263,333.
