Congrats filly tops Fasig-Tipton Horses of Racing Age sale

Congrats’ multiple stakes-winning daughter Temper Mint Patty brought a winning bid of $350,000 during Wednesday evening’s Fasig Tipton Summer Select Horses of Racing Age sale, the top bid at the one-day auction.

The last hip (No. 524) through the sale, Temper Mint Patty attracted plenty of attention, including from Jacob West, who purchased the filly consigned by Bluewater Sales, on behalf of prominent owner Mike Repole.

“She’s heading up to Saratoga and going to Todd [Pletcher],” West said. “[Repole] was locked on her ever since they entered her in the sale. She’s a New York-bred filly that he knows can go and compete in some New York-bred stakes.”

Temper Mint Patty is already a proven winner on that tough circuit, taking the 2014 Joe A. Gimma S. by a whopping 13 lengths and the New York Oaks on July 3 by nine. Overall, she’s 3-1-2 in nine starts and has earned $274,050.

Congrats has already tallied 94 winners this year, fourth-most on the General Sire list. Temper Mint Patty is one of his nine stakes horses in 2015.
