WinStar stallions Congrats and Spring at Last closed the OBS Spring Sale of Two-year-olds in Training with a pair of juveniles selling for over $200,000, well above their 2014 advertised stud fees.
A filly by Congrats was consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds, agent as hip No. 559. Selling during day 2 of the April 21-24 auction, the dark bay filly went for $260,000 to Martin Schwartz. The filly is out of the graded stakes placed mare Royal Card, from the same family as the top-class producer De Bertie, dam of a pair of graded stakes-winning fillies.
Hip No. 1044, a colt by Spring at Last out of the Forty Niner mare Cercis, was consigned by Wavertree Sales, agent, and purchased by trainer Linda Rice, agent, for $210,000.
