Day 1 at Keeneland September sale yields big numbers for Bodemeister

A $460,000 colt topped the first day of the Sept. 14-26 Keeneland September Yearling sale for Bodemeister, with six juveniles selling for an average of $237,500.

Taylor Made Sales Agency consigned Bodemeister top seller of the day, hip No. 124, which went to China Horse Club. The colt is out of the Maria’s Mon mare Blushing, who is a half-sister to champion 3-year-old filly Wait a While.

Other Bodemeister highlights during the session include hip No. 95, which went for $370,000 to Mary K. Grum. The colt is out of Auspiciously, a full sister to Grade 1 winner Malibu Mint. Hip No. 45 sold for $350,000 to Steve Young, agent. The dark bay is a half-brother to Spinaway S. (G1) winner Hot Dixie Chick out of the Grade 3 winner Above Perfection.

Bodemeister, whose yearlings have an average auction price of $228,750 prior to Keeneland’s sale, which is second-best for any sire represented by his first crop this year, has an additional 72 juveniles catalogued during the remainder of the Keeneland sale.
