Distorted Humor’s Restless Rider dominates Alcibiades S. (G1)

Restless Rider solidified herself as a favorite for next month’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) with a superlative performance in Friday’s $400,000 Alcibiades S. (G1) at Keeneland.

The 2-year-old daughter of Distorted Humor was lavished with praise by her trainer Ken McPeek following the win.

“She has taken us everywhere. She is really, really, special. I’ve got a great team at Churchill Downs who [had her perfect for this race].”

A debut maiden winner June 8 at Churchill Downs before winning the Debutante over the same track by a dozen lengths, Restless was subsequently an unlucky second in the Spinaway S. (G1) before Friday’s convincing score. She is now 3-1-0 in four outings and has earned $401,360 for co-owners Fern Circle Stables and Three Chimneys Farm, who purchased her for $150,000 at the 2017 Keeneland September Yearling sale.

Getting a great trip under Brian Hernandez, Jr. from post three, Restless Rider sat just off longshot Meadow Dance before taking over with about a quarter-mile to run, then easily held off reflect to win by 2 1/2-lengths in 1:44.23 for the 1 1/16-miles on a fast main track.

The winner was bred by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings and is out of Silky Serenade, whose siblings include Private Vow, a multiple graded stakes winner at 2.

Restless Rider is Distorted Humor’s 17th lifetime Grade 1 winner and one of his more than 60 graded stakes winners around the globe.
