Drosselmeyer to remain in Brazil at Stud TNT

Drosselmeyer, one of only eight horses to win an American Classic and the Breeders’ Cup Classic, has been purchased by Stud TNT and will remain in Brazil to stand stud.

The 9-year-old son of Distorted Humor had been shuttling to Stud TNT the last five Southern Hemisphere breeding seasons after standing each Northern Hemisphere breeding season at WinStar Farm.

Drosselmeyer is a leading sire from his stallion crop in Brazil, with his first 3-year-olds in 2016 led by the Grade 3-winning colt, Enologo (Brz), winner of the Jose Buarque de Macedo – Copa das Nacoes S. (G3) and placed in the Jockey Club Brasileiro S. (G1) at Gavea. Drosselmeyer’s other first-crop Graded stakes-placed performers in Brazil include his 3-year-old fillies Kanton (Brz) and Estella Rossa (Brz), and colt King David (Brz).

Campaigned by WinStar and trainer Bill Mott, Drosselmeyer earned $3,728,170 during his highly-decorated racing career, and remains the all-time leading money winner for his champion sire Distorted Humor. As a 3-year-old, Drosselmeyer captured the final jewel of the 2010 Triple Crown – the Belmont Stakes (G1). He went on to defeat 9 Grade 1 winners – including Horse of the Year Havre de Grace and champion Uncle Mo – as a 4-year-old in North America’s richest race, the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) at Churchill in 2011.

Drosselmeyer joined A.P. Indy and American Pharoah as the only three horses in history to win the Belmont S. and Breeders’ Cup Classic. He also added his name to an elite list of just eight horses to win a Triple Crown race and the Breeders’ Cup Classic, including the likes of A.P. Indy, American Pharoah, Unbridled, Sunday Silence, and Curlin.
