Exaggerator’s first yearling of 2019 hammers for $125,000 at Keeneland

The new year opened with a bang for Exaggerator on Jan. 7 when his first-ever yearling offered at auction sold for $125,000 on Monday at the 2019 Keeneland January Sale.

A chestnut filly consigned by Taylor Made Sales agency, hip No. 25 went to The Legends Stables. The filly is out of the Distorted Humor mare Lusaka and is from the same family as 2-year-old champion filly Halfbridled, Grade 1 winner and sire Mshawish, and multiple graded stakes winner Lu Ravi.

After a stellar racing career that included wins in the Preakness S. (G1), Haskell Inv. (G1) and Santa Anita Derby (G1), Exaggerator retired to WinStar Farm as Curlin’s all-time leading earner with $3,581,120. He has been a favorite among breeders as well, covering a total of 325 mares his first two seasons at stud. His fee this year is $25,000 stands and nurses.
