F-T Gulfstream sale features $725,000 Fed Biz colt

Fed Biz had the top-priced lot for any First-Crop sire at the March 28th Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale of 2-year-olds when Linda Rice, agent, went to $725,000 for a colt by the WinStar stallion.

Wavertree Stables, agent, consigned the colt, hip No. 62. The dark bay is the second foal out of the Congrats mare Virtuously, who is a half-sister to champion sprinter Edubai del Ocho, while the colt’s third dam was 2-year-old Canadian champion filly Larkwhistle.

Wednesday’s results marked the highest price paid for a 2-year-old by Fed Biz this year, and also the second-most paid for any 2-year-old by a first-year stallion. Fed Biz’s overall auction average stands at $381,250, more than 30 times his bred-on stud fee.
