Fabled Finish for Newest Bluegrass Cat SW

Sagamore Farm’s homebred Tell a Great Story provided a fairytale finish to her stakes debut, winning the $75,000 Go For Wand Stakes on June 15th at Delaware Park in the final stride.

With the stirring victory, she became the fifth stakes winner of 2013 for New York’s Leading Sire Bluegrass Cat.

The 3-year-old Maryland-bred was winning for the third time in five career starts in the Go For Wand. Tell a Great Story bided her time in mid-pack for the first six furlongs, then launched her bid coming out of the far turn. She closed determinedly through the stretch to gain the nod at the wire. Time for 1 1/16 miles on the main track was 1:40 4/5. A chestnut filly out of Roadtohanna, by Not For Love, Tell a Great Story boasts a record of 5-3-1-1 and $103,820 under trainer Ignacio Correas.

Bluegrass Cat is the Leading Sire in both New York and the Northeast this year. He stands at Sugar Maple Farm, property of a Vinery/WinStar venture.
