Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale a coming out for Carpe Diem

Carpe Diem’s four lots through the ring at Monday’s opening session of the Aug. 6-7 Saratoga Select Yearlings sale all brought six figures, topped by a $475,000 colt, for an average of $292,500.

Gainesway consigned Carpe Diem’s personal session-topper, hip No. 22, which went to Phoenix Thoroughbreds. The colt’s stakes-winning and graded stakes-placed dam Lemonette is closely related to $3 million earner and multiple Grade 1 winner Behrens.

Right on the heels of the colt came hip No. 23, a filly consigned by Mill Ride Sales, agent, that went to Masiello, West Point Thoroughbreds and Manganaro Bloodstock for $375,000. Out of the stakes winner Lemon Splendor, she is a half-sister to stakes winner Mo Maverick.

Carpe Diem has an additional three lots cataloged for Tuesday’s session, which begins at 6:30 p.m. ET.
