First Keeneland yearling for Exaggerator brings $250,000

Exaggerator, whose first crop are yearlings of 2019, had his first juvenile sell at Keeneland on Sept. 11 when hip No. 491 brought a winning bid of $250,000 from Maverick Racing.

The bay colt, consigned by Hunter Valley Farm, is out of the Grade 1 Empire Maker mare Last Full Measure, winner of Keeneland’s Madison S. (G1). She has had two foals to race, including the subject’s half-sister Valiance, winner of the Open Mind S. Last Full Measure’s dam Lazy Slusan won over $1.1 million and a pair of Grade 1’s among her 10 stakes victories.

Exaggerator has an impressive 75 lots remaining in the marathon yearling sale, which runs through Sept. 22. His yearlings have averaged $169,230 to date, topped by a $400,000 filly.
