First Paynter yearling brings six figures at Keeneland

A yearling filly from the first crop of the Grade 1-winning millionaire Paynter brought a top bid of $100,000 during the first day of the Keeneland January Sale.

The Kentucky-bred filly, hip No. 322, was consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency and purchased by Naveed Chowhan. The dark bay filly is out of the Distorted Humor mare Agatha, who is a sister to the multiple Japanese champion Hishi Akebono and the brilliant multiple Grade 1 winner and sire Agnes World, both of whom earned in excess of $3 million.

Paynter, whose first weanlings averaged $101,636 last year, is standing the 2016 season at WinStar for $20,000, live foal stands and nurses.
