Five Star General rules in $250,000 British Columbia Derby (G3)
Saturday, September 7, 2019
Five Star General became Distorted Humor's latest graded stakes winner with a very courageous victory in the $250,000 British Columbia Derby (G3) Saturday at Hastings Park (VIDEO).

Distorted Humor now has 56 career graded winners and in just the past week has accounted for Virginia Oaks winner Carnival Colors and the stakes-placed 2-year-old filly Champagne Humor.

Five Star General contested the pace and took over the lead in the first half-mile. With Explode fighting resolutely the rest of the way, Five Star General had to dig deep to win by a nose over the nine furlongs.

Five Star General, a three-time stakes winner, is now 4-1-0 in nine starts and has earned $233,761 for the North American Thoroughbred Horse Company. Bred by WinStar Farm, the 3-year-old is out of the Forty Niner mare Party of Interest, who is a half-sister to four-time graded stakes winner Criminologist.
