G1 winner Gemologist sires first foals
Monday, January 27, 2014
WinStar Farm’s Gemologist, Tiznow’s Grade 1-winning 3-year-old and undefeated Grade 2-winning 2-year-old, was represented by his first foals when three colts were reported born.

A bay colt out of multiple stakes winner Master Link was the first reported foal for Gemologist on Jan. 15. Foaled at Clear Creek Stud in Folsom, LA, the colt was bred by Danny Bockmon.

Another colt was reported born on Jan. 24 at Omega Farm in Paris, KY. Bred by Scott and Debbie Pierce, the colt is out of the stakes-placed Stephen Got Even mare Hannah’s Dowery. A bay colt was also born at WinStar in Versailles, KY last week, and hails out the multiple Grade 2-winning Storm Cat mare Magicalmysterycat.

An earner of $794,855 on the track, Gemologist capped an undefeated juvenile campaign with a win in the Kentucky Jockey Club S. (G2), before going on to win the $1 million Wood Memorial S. (G1) as a 3-year-old to start his career a perfect 5-for-5. By Tiznow out of the Mr. Prospector mare Crystal Shard, Gemologist bred 154 mares in his first book at stud. He is set to stand his second season at WinStar in 2014 for a fee of $15,000 stands and nurses.
