Gemologist colt takes George Washington S. (G3) with ease

Gemologist tallied his first graded stakes winner of 2017 on Feb. 19 when the 3-year-old colt Golden Diamond captured the George Washington S. (G3) at Camarero Race Track.

He is the sixth stakes horse overall (five graded) from Gemologist’s first two crops. After wrapping up 2016 ranked fifth on the Freshman Sire list, Gemologist is currently sitting third on this year’s Second-Crop list.

Making his first start since breaking his maiden in January, Golden Diamond easily bested his competition, including multiple graded winner Derek Adrian, winning the 1 1/16-mile contest by 5 3/4-lengths.

Bred in Kentucky by Brandywine Farm, Golden Diamond is a half-brother to stakes winner Let Em Shine.
