Gemologist filly stellar in Saratoga unveiling

Ingrid lived up to her advanced billing with an eye-catching six-length victory in a Saratoga maiden special weight contest Wednesday.

The 2-year-old daughter of Gemologist is the fifth maiden special weight winner for her freshman sire, who ranks in the top-10 on the First-Crop Sire list by both progeny earnings and winners.

Ingrid didn’t give her six challengers much chance to have an impact, breaking out right on top and opening up by three lengths after the first quarter mile and pulling even further ahead from that point on, stopping the clock in 1:04.22 for the 5 1/2-furlongs (VIDEO).

Ingrid is owned by Black Swan Stable and was bred by SF Racing. The dark bay filly is a half-sister to five winners, including Alfred G. Vanderbilt (G1) champ Sean Avery and the stakes winner Teniente Coronel. Black Swan purchased Ingrid for $140,000 out of the 2015 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
