Grade 1 trifecta for Pure Prize

Pure Prize scored a rare 1-2-3 sweep in a graded stakes race when his offspring captured the top 3 spots in the Grade 1 Premio Gran Premio Gilberto Lerena in Argentina on April 1. Pure Prize, who is standing at WinStar this year for $7,500 LFS&N, now has a total of 11 Grade 1 winners, with a total of 19 G1 wins, to his credit.

Candy Marie led the way in the “about” 1 3/8-mile contest ran over “heavy” turf at the Hippodrome de Palermo, with Sea Brava in second and Girlie taking the show spot.  Candy Marie, who won a Grade 2 over the same track a month ago, is a leading the standings in the year-long $2,888,000 “Golden Palermo Championships”.  

Four-year-old Candy Marie is 4-4-0 in 12 starts, all in Argentina. She is undefeated in three starts, all in graded company, in 2013.
