It’s all Joy in Christiana S. at Delaware Park

Joy’s one length victory in the $50,000 Christiana S. Wednesday at Delaware Park gave her sire Pure Prize his 22nd stakes horse of 2013. His runners have eclipsed the $2 million earnings mark this year and have won three graded stakes in Argentina.

Joy was making her 2013 stakes debut in the Christiana, run at a mile on the turf. She was in midpack of the six 3-year-old fillies until going three wide around the bend to come on even terms with the leaders, then shook clear in deep stretch to get the distance in 1:37.90 over the firm going.

The Dark Hollow Farm homebred is now 3-1-2 in 11 starts, earning $103,400. She is the first foal out of the Flatter mare Safe Journey. The family includes the multiple graded stakes winning mare Safely Kept and Grade 2 winner Partner’s Hero.
