Keeneland September day 1 includes $500K Distorted Humor filly

Distorted Humor, the number 1 active North American sire by lifetime yearling average, had four yearlings sell during the first session of the Keeneland September sale on Monday afternoon, for an average of $293,750.

The top offering was hip No. 130, consigned by Select Sales, agent, which went to Courtlandt Farm for $500,000. The filly’s first three dams are all black-type winners, including her third dam Drina, in turn the dam of Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) winner Spain.

A few minutes before the $500,000 filly, hip No. 124, a colt consigned by Eaton Sales, brought a winning bid of $350,000 from Eric Fein. The colt’s dam, Versailles Song, is a half-sister to Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) winner George Vancouver and Remsen S. (G2) Saarland.

Distorted Humor has a total of 41 remaining lots cataloged in the sale, which runs through Sept. 25.
