Kodiak Kowboy colt sells for $140K at Kee

A colt from the first crop of multiple Grade 1 winner Kodiak Kowboy brought $140,000 at the April Keeneland 2-year-olds in Training sale, more than 21 times his 2013 stud fee of $6,500.

Consigned by Kirkwood Stables, agent, and cataloged as hip No. 117, the dark bay or brown colt caught the attention of plenty of bidders, ultimately going to Bill and Corinne Heiligbrodt.

Kodiak Kowboy, the champion 2-year-old in Canada and winner of the Vosburgh S., Carter H., and Cigar Mile, all Grade 1 events, has gotten off to a strong start in the 2013 2-year-old sales season, with his juveniles averaging $127,500 to date.
