Made You Look impresses in 2017 debut in Dania Beach S. (G3)

More Than Ready’s newly-turned 3-year-old Made You Look began 2017 on a high note with a very sharp-looking performance in Saturday’s $100,000 Dania Beach S. (G3) over the Gulfstream Park turf course.

Made You Look, who is owned by Let’s Go Stable and Three Chimneys Farm, won the With Anticipation S. (G2) last year at Saratoga, is now 3-1-0 in five starts and has banked $250,140.

Javier Castellano had Made You Look in midpack in the two path through the first five furlongs of the 7 1/2-furlong trip. With a wall of horses in front of him coming to the stretch, Castellano swung Made You Look four-wide and quickly swept to the front before drawing off in style to win by 2 1/2-lengths in 1:29.98 on the firm turf.

“The way he did it, I was very impressed,” Castellano said. “He was covered up a little bit. There was a lot of speed in the race and I kept him inside on the rail. The way he did it was very professional and the way he exploded the last part of it was very impressive. I angled out a little bit because I saw those two horses in front start to back up a little bit, so I tried find some room to split horses. I tried to use my best judgment and put him outside to let him run and when I asked him, he took off.”

The winner was bred in Kentucky by the Robert and Beverly Lewis Trust, out of the Unbridled’s Song mare Night and Day, and was a $360,000 purchase by his owners from the Denali Stud consignment to the 2015 Keeneland September yearling sale.

More Than Ready wrapped up a great 2016 with four Group/Grade 1 winners and now has 75 lifetime graded stakes winners. The WinStar stallion is standing the 2017 season for a fee of $60,000 stands and nurses.
