More Than Ready colt all class in Superlative S.

Leading international sire More Than Ready added to his 160-plus lifetime stakes winners on Saturday when the 2-year-old colt Boynton won the Superlative S. (G2) at Newmarket in Great Britain.

Boynton, a debut winner at Goodwood, overcame even-money favorite War Decree in the final stages, winning by three-quarters of a length under jockey Adam Kirby. The winner finished the seven furlongs on the uphill turf in 1:24.17.

“I wound him up in nice time and he stayed at it very strong – it’s all good,” said Kirby. “He’s a lovely action – a great mover – and his future is quite bright.”

“He got a great ride from Adam who let him come in his own time,” added trainer Charlie Appleby. “He galloped out strongly and we’ll look at the [G1 Goffs Vincent O’Brien] National [S. at The Curragh Sept. 11], but we’ll see how he is after this.”

Boynton was bred in Kentucky by Twin Creeks Farm. Out of Baffled, the chestnut colt is a half-brother to millionaire Grade-1 winner and WinStar stallion Constitution and Congrats Grade 3-winning filly Jacaranda.
