More Than Ready filly rolls to stakes victory at York

Nemoralia, twice Grade 1-placed in the U. S. last year, secured her first stakes victory on Friday at York in Great Britain, cruising to a six-length score in the Irish Champions Weekend Fillies S.

The 3-year-old daughter of More Than Ready is the 159th lifetime black type winner for her sire. After the victory, where she powered from sixth to first with about a quarter-mile to run, then simply galloped away to win as much the best, her connections were looking forward to the Coronation S. (G1) at Royal Ascot  on June 17 (VIDEO).

“She’s a nice filly and she loved this top-of-the-ground. She won like a good filly today,” jockey Frankie Dettori said.

Trainer Jeremy Noseda added, “She’s been working well and nothing really went right for her in America. I felt she could have won the Breeders’ Cup, but she had a setback two weeks before it and they had a lot of rain. She’s shown what I thought she was capable of. I came here expecting to win, but obviously you hope they do it in that sort of manner. (S)ince the Breeders’ Cup the plan has been to come here and then Royal Ascot. I’ve been thrilled with her at home and I’d hope she’ll improve.”

Nemoralia was second in last autumn’s Frizette S. (G1) at Belmont then a troubled third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1). Her record now stands at 3-2-1 from seven outings, with earnings of $265,248 for owners Terry Allen, James Lovat and Charles Pigram.

Nemoralia was bred in Kentucky by Alberta Davis and is the third foal out of three-time stakes winner Alina, who has a 2-year-old full brother to the winner and a 2016 Bodemeister colt at her side.

Noseda purchased the filly on behalf of his owners for $170,000 out of the 2015 OBS March Selected Sale of 2-year-olds.
