More Than Ready vaults up 2yo sire list

Ready to Act became the fifth 2-year-old winner of 2013 for More Than Ready on Monday Saratoga, sealing the victory with a persistent stretch drive that netted the gray or roan filly a half-length win in her career debut.

A $200,000 yearling purchase at the Keeneland September sale by her owners William Lawrence and Klaravich Stables, Inc., Ready to Act found her best stride about a furlong from the wire, coming from fourth to take the 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight event on the firm turf course in 1:04.08.

The winner was bred in Kentucky by Fred Hetrich III and is out of Always Auditioning, who is a full sister to Grade 1 Hollywood Gold Cup winner Mast Track.

More Than Ready’s quintet of 2-year-old winners this year, from just nine starters, ranks third among all sires of juvenile runners. The group has earned $180,476, 12th-best on the list. Co-incidentally, his overall progeny earnings of $3,972,800 also ranks 12th on the 2013 General Sire list.
