Munnings Sister triumphs in Gold Princess S.

Munnings Sister gave Speightstown his second stakes winner in as many days with a half-length victory in Sunday’s $85,000 Gold Princess S. at Belmont Park. Essence Hit Man was victorious one day earlier at Woodbine in the Jacques Cartier S. for his sire, who now has six stakes winners accounting for seven added-money victories in 2013.

Already a two-time stakes winner, 4-year-old Munnings Sister added to her tally with a half-length score in the six furlong Gold Princess, overcoming a near race-long tussle with 3-5 favorite Silverette to get the hard-fought win in 1:09.67 on a “fast” track.

A Charles Fipke homebred, Munnings Sister previously won the California Wine S. and Dream Supreme S., both in 2012. Her overall record stands at 5-0-1 from 11 starts, with $175,250 in earnings. As her name hints at, she is a full sister to Munnings, a three-time Grade 2 winner of nearly $750,000.
