My Bellamy earns first career stakes win
Sunday, October 23, 2011
Three-year-old My Bellamy won the the $88,750 Frances Slocum S. Oct. 23 at Hoosier Park for her first career stakes win. My Bellamy is the seventh stakes winner of 2011 for Bellamy Road, second best  among all second-crop sires. Bellamy Road is also sixth on the same list in terms of progeny earnings, with more than $2.35 million to date.

Breaking from the inside post, My Bellamy was in contention the entire way of the one and one-sixteenth mile event, never worse than second at any point. In the stretch, My Bellamy briefly dropped back as Wind Energy got a short lead. However, both My Bellamy came back in the final strides, with the winner finishing three-quarters of a length over Dreamin Big.

“I was really surprised the filly (My Bellamy) came back on the inside in the stretch,” said winning trainer and co-owner Robert Gorham. “The jock (Alberto Pusac) really did a good job of keeping after her and getting her to the wire.”

My Bellamy has four wins in 10 starts for 2011. She now has $181,944 in career earnings for the co-owner/breeder Mast Thoroughbreds.
