Nemoralia dominant in first graded stakes victory

More Than Ready’s top-class 3-year-old filly Nemoralia earned her first graded stakes win on Aug. 19 at York with a nearly two-length win in the $200,000 City of York S. (G3).

Nemoralia is More Than Ready’s 72nd lifetime graded stakes winner. The WinStar stallion once again has double-digit stakes winners in 2016, with progeny earnings to date nearing the $5 million mark for the top-20 ranked sire.

Nemoralia, a listed stakes winner at York in May, was patiently ridden by Jamie Spencer, sitting in seventh for about five furlongs before Spencer asked the dark bay for her best. Nemoralia responded quickly, opening up on the field then being hand-ridden to the wire to finish the seven furlongs in 1:22.16 on the turf (VIDEO).

“She was in good form and she was a group one filly dropping back into group three company,” said trainer Jeremy Noseda. “She’s done what she should do and I’m delighted to see her go and do it. She had a hard race at Royal Ascot and ran a bit flat when I ran her back too quickly in France, so that was my mistake. The [Sept. 10, G2] Park Stakes at Doncaster will be next and then we’ll head to America and look at the [GI] Queen Elizabeth for three-year-old fillies on October 14 in Keeneland. We’ve got the choice of races at the Breeders’ Cup, as she goes on the dirt as well, so we’ll keep moving forward now.”

Nemoralia ran twice in America during her 2-year-old campaign, finishing second in the Frizette S. (G1) on the dirt and third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1). Her overall record stands at 4-3-1 in 10 starts, with earnings of $524,633 for owners Allan, Lovat and Pigram.
