Our Country first Breeders’ Cup starter for Constitution

Constitution, who is currently second on the First-Crop Sire list, will have his first Breeders’ Cup starter on Friday when Our Country breaks from the rail in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1).

Our Country, who has made all four of his starts on grass, broke his maiden by nearly six lengths in August at Saratoga and then was beaten just a little more than a length in the Pilgrim S. (G3) at Belmont last month.

Bred by WinStar Farm, Our Country is out of the Tiznow mare Light and Variable, who is a half-sister to Adirondack S. (G2) winner Nonna Mela and from the family of WinStar’s Grade 1 winner Bluegrass Cat.

Our Country was purchased by his owners R A Hill Stable and Gatsas Stables at this May’s Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale.

Constitution and American Pharoah are the only two First-Crop sires with three graded stakes winners.  Constitution will stand in 2020 at WinStar for $40,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
