Outside draw for Majesto in Kentucky Derby (G1)

Tiznow’s Grade 1-placed Majesto drew post 18 of 20 for Saturday 142nd Kentucky Derby (G1) when entries were drawn Wednesday afternoon at Churchill Downs.

“I’d prefer a little more inside, but I cannot change it. But remember he’s a strong horse,” said trainer Gustavo Delgado.

Majesto earned his way into the Kentucky Derby after running second in last month’s Florida Derby (G1) behind the undefeated Nyquist.

Majesto’s Venezuelan connections include his trainer, owner Grupo 7C Racing Stable, and his jockey Emisael Jaramillo, Venezuela’s all-time leading rider.

Despite his South American ties, Majesto was bred in the Bluegrass State by Diamond A Racing Corp. The colt is a half-brother to millionaire Grade 1 winner and WinStar stallion Overanalyze, as well as Matron S. (G1) winner Meadow Breeze. Majesto sold for $300,000 to his owners at the 2014 Keeneland September Yearling sale.

The Kentucky Derby is race 12 on Saturday, with a scheduled post time of 6:34 p.m. ET. NBC television coverage runs from 4 – 7:30 p.m.
