Overanalyze colt digs deep to win Belmont maiden special weight debut

Psychoanalyze outdueled Smash Williams in a 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight affair on Wednesday afternoon to become the third winner from the first crop of Overanalyze, who is the leading Freshman Sire of 2017 by winners and progeny earnings.

All three of his winners have come in maiden special weight races on the New York circuit.

Psychoanalyze got the well-earned victory after a hard-fought battle that lasted basically the entire trip. The winner had the lead the whole, but was nearly headed in mid-stretch before re-rallying and securing the win by three-quarters of a length in 1:06.32 on a “good” main track.

Psychoanalyze is owned by Fort Springs Racing and was bred in Kentucky by C. W. Swann and Wetherbee Holdings, LLC. The dark bay 2-year-old is the second foal, both winners, out of the stakes-placed Freud’s Irish Miss.
