Paynter colt near top at OBS August Yearling sale

Paynter, whose first crop are yearlings of 2016, had one of the top-five selling lots during the first day, the Selected session, of the Aug. 23-25 OBS August Yearlings sale.

Paynter’s yearlings have sold for up to $335,000 this year, and with an average of $147,777 to date, he ranks in the top five of all freshman sires by yearling average.

Janie Roper consigned hip No. 56, which went to C R K Stables LLC for $150,000. The bay colt’s dam, Oral Argument, is a half-sister to Closing Argument, winner of the Holy Bull S. (G3) and runner-up in the 2005 Kentucky Derby (G1). 

The yearling sales season continues next month at the Keeneland September Sale, where Paynter has a total of 48 lots catalogued.
