Pioneer’ filly brings $320K at Barretts 2yo

Pioneerof the Nile had another strong sales showing at the March 3 Barretts Select 2-year-olds in Training auction, highlighted by a juvenile filly that brought $320,000.

Hip No. 5 was consigned by Kings Equine, agent and purchased by Gary S. Broad. The Kentucky bred filly is out of the Elusive Quality mare Lady Lapuma, whose dam Lapuma was a multiple stakes winner.

With all sales results calculated, Pioneerof the Nile wound up with the fourth-highest average and median prices of the prestigious sale.

Pioneerof the Nile is also currently the leading Second Crop sire of 2014, with a pair of graded stakes winning colts in Cairo Prince (G2 Holy Bull S.) and Vinceremos (G3 Sam F. Davis S.).
