Albaugh Stables and Spendthrift Farm teamed up to buy the striking colt, who was consigned by Brookdale Sales as agent for Hardacre Farm.
"He's among the very best individuals we saw here," Spendthrift farm manager Ned Toffey said. "He ticks all the boxes, he's out of a mare that could run. Obviously, (he's by) a very talented sire. We couldn't be happier to have him. We've done some business with the Albaughs, so we're happy to be working with them again."
The bay colt is out of Pomeroy's Pistol, a three-time graded stakes winner of over a half-million dollars.
Pioneerof the Nile has had five lots sell through the first two days of the auction, all bringing at least $475,000 for an average of $584,000.
