Pioneerof the Nile filly stays undefeated with stakes romp

The 2-year-old filly Eighth Wonder made her first stakes start on Sunday and responded with a devastating 9 ¼-length victory in the $75,000 Donna Freyer S. at Parx.

The daughter of Pioneerof the Nile, who broke her maiden by 7 ¾-lengths on Sept. 19 and came back with a five-length allowance score on Oct. 27, has now never been headed in three starts following Sunday’s win, where she controlled things from the outset once again and was never seriously threatened at any point (VIDEO).

Eighth Wonder is owned by her breeder Gryphon Investments LLC. Her dam, two-time stakes winner Cheeksandpeanuts, has produced six winners and three stakes horses.

Pioneerof the Nile, sire of American Pharoah, is the statistical leader in nearly every Third-Crop Sire category; he now has 20 black type horses and nearly $16 million in progeny earnings.
