Pioneerof the Nile filly tagged a ‘Rising Star’

With a quick tap from Martin Garcia at the head of the stretch, Pioneerof the Nile’s 2-year-old filly Jojo Warrior quickly drew clear from her pursuers to register a sharp-looking 3 1/4-length victory in her debut Monday at Del Mar (VIDEO).

With six winners to date and $272,252 in progeny earnings, Pioneerof the Nile ranks second on the 2013 Freshman Sire list.

Going 5 1/2-furlongs against nine maiden special weight opponents, Jojo Warrior made a swift move on the turn to go from fifth to battling for the lead, then took off once again after straightening for home. The final time was a strong 1:03.67, earning the Zayat Stables’ homebred the coveted “TDN Rising Star” tag.

Jojo Warrior’s dam, the multiple stakes-placed Carson Jen, is the dam of Grade 1 Frizette S. winner A Z Warrior, Grade 3 Hollywood Juvenile S. winner E Z Warrior, and four-time stakes winner J Z Warrior.
