Revolutionary colt stretches out to break maiden at one mile

Vampa got a well-timed ride from Jeremy Rose to win a one-mile maiden race Sept. 6 at Delaware Park by a half-length in the second lifetime start for the 2-year-old Revolutionary colt.

Vampa is the fifth winner for his sire, who has already accounted for the stakes winner Maiden Beauty.

After stalking the pace for the first six furlongs, Vampa found an opening along the fence at the top of the stretch and resolutely wore down Top Hat Warrior and Shanghai Pete to claim the victory.

The winner is owned by Black Cloud Stable and bred by Sally and Jimmy Lockhart. Vampa’s dam Denali Red, who is a half-sister to three-time stakes winner Tricky Six, has produced six winners to date.
