Righteous Baby came from last to first in the final quarter-mile to break her maiden at first asking in a one-mile maiden special weight affair Dec. 19 at Mountaineer Park.
The 2-year-old filly is the 14th First-Crop winner for her sire, which is fourth-most for all freshman sires this year. He is also the leading freshman sire by percentage of winners from starters for the top-10 sires of winners.
Righteous Ruby's debut began uneventfully as she dropped back to last soon after the start and was some 12 lengths from the lead at the half-way point. She began to pick up the pace with three furlongs to go and was in full flight by the time the field hit the stretch.
