Multiple graded stakes winner Revolutionary made a triumphant return to the races for WinStar Farm Saturday at Gulfstream Park, capturing a one-mile, third-level allowance race by a half length with a late surge.
Winner of last year’s Louisiana Derby (G2) and Withers S. (G3), Revolutionary went on to be third in the Kentucky Derby (G1). Trained for WinStar by Todd Pletcher, Revolutionary had been working solidly at Palm Meadows for his 2014 debut.
After getting away in fourth for the run down the backside, Revolutionary circled the field on the turn and into the stretch, striking the front in the final sixteenth to get the distance in a sharp 1:35.07.
A horse with more graded stakes in his future, Revolutionary is now 4-1-3 in nine starts, earning $1,047,600.
