Seaneen Girl impressive in dominating Monmouth Oaks (G3) performance

Spring at Last’s 3-year-old filly Seaneen Girl captured the $100,000 Monmouth Oaks (G3) on Saturday by an impressive six lengths to give the filly her second career graded victory (VIDEO).

Spring at Last’s second crop earnings have eclipsed the $1.2 million mark, ranking ninth among all sophomore sires.

Seaneen Girl made her winning move after stalking the pace for the first six furlongs, taking command around the far turn and opened up a big lead in the stretch to cover the mile and a sixteenth over a fast main track in 1:44.04.

“She left Churchill (Downs) on Thursday night and had a 15 hour van ride,” said winning trainer Bernie Flint. “She basically did that right off the van. That was a real impressive race from her. She’s such a nice filly. The Breeders’ Cup (G1 Ladies’ Classic, in November at Santa Anita) down the road is always something you look at, but for now we’ll just see how she comes out of this one.”

Out the Afternoon Deelites mare Afternoon Krystal, Seaneen Girl has eight top-three finishes in 13 lifetime starts, good for earnings of $343,636. Her previous added money win came in the Golden Rod S. (G2) last autumn at Churchill Downs.
